What is THCa?
THCa is one of many chemical compounds found in cannabis plants known as cannabinoids. THCa does not produce any psychoactive effects in and of itself. However, when combusted or exposed to heat – whether being smoked or cooked in an edible product – THCa will produce effects similar to Delta 9 THC.
What are THCa Infused Pre-Rolls?
THCa-infused pre-rolls are similar to traditional joints but instead of containing Marijuana, they contain THCa – tetrahydrocannabinolic acid. This compound is naturally occurring in Cannabis and it is non-psychoactive. However, when it is exposed to heat, THCa becomes THC, which is the main psychoactive component found in Cannabis. Here are some tips to help your THCa Pre-Rolls last longer:
- Avoid light exposure. Light can actually break down THCa and THC which can weaken the potency of the product. Light can even make your pre-roll taste bad. So, always store your pre-rolls in a dark spot.
- Keep your pre-rolls sealed in an airtight container to avoid oxidation. Much like light exposure, air/oxygen exposure can cause the THCa to degrade. So, keep air exposure to a minimum.
- Room temperature is ideal for storing pre-rolls. Hot temperatures can cause terpenes to evaporate and the product itself to dry out. Cold temperatures can also result in degradation and a loss of potency and quality.
- Humidity is another factor that can greatly affect your THCa Pre-Rolls. The ideal range for pre-rolls is around 60% humidity. If there is too much humidity, pre-rolls could possible grow mold or bacteria because of the moist environment. Too little humidity can cause the product to become dry, which reduces its potency and can even make it unpleasant to smoke.
